Sarah Palin Disinvited, Newt Gingrich In For Major GOP Dinner

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is out, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is in as keynote speaker at a Republican dinner this spring.

Palin, the party’s 2008 nominee for vice president, had been slated to address the annual Senate-House Dinner in Washington on June 8. The dinner, sponsored by the House and Senate Republican campaign committees, is one of the GOP’s biggest fundraisers.

Palin will be replaced by Gingrich. Both are popular figures with the party’s base.

A spokesman for the Senate GOP committee, Brian Walsh, said Palin’s team informed the campaign committees that her responsibilities in Alaska prevented her from committing to the speech until the end of the legislative session.

“We completely understand and respect Governor Palin’s focus on her official state business; however, there is obviously an enormous amount of planning that goes into this annual event. For that reason, we invited and are honored to have former Speaker Newt Gingrich join us as our speaker,” Walsh said in an e-mail. Source: The Huffington Post. Click here to read more.

  • [...] “stupid,” and, according to The Huffington Post , saying they amounted to “punishing Sarah Palin Disinvited, Newt Gingrich In For Major GOP Dinner – forbarackobamaonline.com 04/02/2009 Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is out, and former House Speaker Newt [...]

  • DEO says:

Man, this Palin bumbling is chronic!

  • Andrea D says:

Why does the headline say “disinvited”? It states clearly in the article that “Palin’s team informed the committee” that she would not be there. This is an excellent example of twisting the facts and it diminishes the credibility of your site.

  • jim says:

There they go again NAILIN PALIN!

  • John says:

I believe Sarah Palin will disappear from the national Republican scene. I do not believe she is a viable national candidate.

  • alex says:

well no shit, Andrea D, this is a site for obama. and also, if you read carefully (which i admit might be hard, for a republican) then you would notice it is not as if Palin said “i can’t make it, find someone else” she merely noted that she couldn’t commit to the engagement (the emphasis being that she might still decide to do it, at a later date). so they picked someone else, which depending on semantics could be interpreted as a “disinvite” or not.

  • shane says:

Palin was not disinvited. She could not attend.
If you clowns would read more than just the headline you might not look so foolish. Further, Obama sucks a$$.

  • Barb says:

I live in Alaska and I’m so grateful that the nation is now seeing the Sarah Palin we have to deal with everyday! If you read the Juneau Empire or KINY News of the North, you will find out her true colors! She is CRAZY!!

  • Dave says:

How is telling the committee you could not attend a “disinvite”? The article clearly states this. Andrea D was completely correct. Alex should read a definition of semantics, and perhaps also a definition of gibberish which would better apply to his response. Sarah Palin may never be more than the Governor of Alaska, but the left certainly can’t stop attacking her. This is a typical reaction when you’re afraid of someone. By the way, how much does Michelle Obama spend on clothes? Or Joe Biden? or mercy sakes, Barack himself? How very weak.

  • Steve says:

Why do you even bother making a comment here, like Alex said this is a site for Obama. The whole idea is to make the repubs look like dumb shits and Obama look like hes saving the world.
Now take a que from Obama and the Dems and go spend your way out of debt. And while your at it take over a few companies that you dont have a clue how to run and let us know how it works out.
Now go away you you swarmy little Repubs while I kick my feet up and watch Obama save the world and wait for him to pay my house and share the wealth it will happen you just watch. It will I know it will the telepromter told me so now go on leave. I’m serious leave or we will take over your company I’m not joking. Dont make me stop this comment because I will.

  • Mike says:

How lucky Alaska is to have a Govenor(Palin) who is honest and not afraid to bit the crooked politicians in office now, Good for her.
Let’s hear it for Prez Palin

  • Clayton says:

Thank the lord that Government Palin is in national politics!

Bless her all who believe in HIM!

  • Rhonda says:

It looks to me like the people writing in favor of Palin are barely literate. I would support her any day as a cheer leader, but I think that is all she is capable of other than destruction and self promotion. And for Dave: As long as someone is spending their own money for their clothes, who cares how much they spend? You must have missed the whole point; the money she was spending was not her own. For Barb: I suspect you are speaking the truth.

For Clayton: I very much believe in Him, but the only way I will give thanks for “Government” (sic) Palin is when I “give thanks in all things.” I would bet that you think Fox News is fair and balanced.

Dave: If you read the article carefully, you will find that she was disinvited because she could not commit to the event within the time line the organizers of the event required.

  • Dave says:

To disinvite means to cancel an invitation someone has accepted which was not the case here.

As far as Ms. Palin’s wardrobe, it was paid for by the RNC and returned to them. It is very comforting to know that the DNC does not pay for any of it’s candidates wardrobe, I did not previously know that. As a taxpayer, I am also very gratified to know that the Obamas and the others I mentioned in my comments do pay for their own clothes. Once again, the dems take the high road.

I have a bridge for sale-could I interest you in it?
